What we collect, why, how we protect it, and the controls you have — in plain English.

AscendQ ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect when you visit ascendq.ca or contact us, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the choices you have.

1. What we collect

We only collect what we need to respond to you and to run the website. Specifically:

Information you give us

  • Your name, email address, phone number, company name, website URL, and any message you submit through our contact form, lead-magnet forms, chat widget, or the free website-analysis tool.
  • The website address you enter into our free analysis tool (used to run the report and follow up with you).

Information collected automatically

  • Privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Plausible) — aggregate page views, referrers, and country. No personal profiles, no cross-site tracking, no advertising cookies.
  • Standard server logs and your IP address at the time of a form submission, retained briefly for security and abuse prevention.

2. What we do NOT collect

  • Payment card numbers or bank details (we do not take payments on this website).
  • Advertising identifiers, third-party tracking cookies, or data sold to brokers.
  • Location data beyond the approximate country derived from your IP for analytics.
  • Any special-category or sensitive personal information — please do not send it to us.

3. How we use your data

  • To respond to your enquiry, prepare a quote, or deliver a requested resource.
  • To run the free website analysis you request and email you the resulting report.
  • To understand, at an aggregate level, how the site is used so we can improve it.
  • To protect the website and prevent spam, fraud, and abuse.
  • To send you information you have asked for. We do not sell your data or send unsolicited marketing.

4. Who we share data with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to operate the site. We share only what each needs to perform its function:

  • Web3Forms — delivery of contact-form and lead-magnet submissions to our inbox.
  • Resend — delivery of transactional emails (your analysis report and our reply).
  • Google PageSpeed Insights API — analyzing the URL you submit to the free analysis tool.
  • Google (Places/Business Profile) — displaying our public customer reviews.
  • Plausible Analytics — privacy-friendly, cookieless aggregate analytics.
  • Cloudflare — DNS, CDN, and edge security for the website.
  • Emergent & MongoDB — application hosting and the database that stores enquiries and analysis requests.

We do not share your information with advertising networks, data brokers, or any party for their own marketing.

5. Cookies

We keep cookies to an absolute minimum. Our analytics (Plausible) is cookieless and does not store or read cookies on your device. We may use a small number of strictly necessary, first-party items (for example, remembering that you have already seen a pop-up during your visit) — these are essential to the site working and are not used for tracking or advertising.

6. Your rights (PIPEDA, Canada)

Under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
  • Ask us to delete your information.
  • Withdraw consent to our use of your information.
  • Complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@ascendq.ca. We respond to access and deletion requests within 30 days.

7. How we protect your data

  • TLS encryption (HTTPS) on every connection to the website.
  • Database and storage encryption provided by our hosting infrastructure.
  • Access limited to the people and providers who need it to deliver the service.

8. How long we keep your data

  • Enquiries and analysis requests: kept as long as needed to serve you and for our legitimate business records, then deleted on request.
  • Server logs and login/abuse-protection IPs: a short rolling window (typically 30 days).
  • Business and tax records: retained as required by Canadian law.

9. Free website analysis tool

When you request a free analysis, we run your website through Google PageSpeed Insights and present the results along with our suggestions. These scores are produced by Google, vary from run to run and between lab and field conditions, and are provided for general information only. They are not a guarantee of performance, ranking, or any specific outcome, and should not be relied upon as professional advice for a specific decision.

10. Children

This website is intended for business audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version always lives at this page, with the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected here.
